See my receipt for a delicious vegan meal for two! They use different woks for each meal, and told me to ask that they don't cook with eggs or chicken broth.

My husband and I haven't eaten there in a long time & thought it was time to visit. As always the luncheon special was perfect for us. My husband had Sweet & Sour Chicken, steamed white rice, egg roll & of course a cup of their fabulous egg drop soup with creamed corn. I had their Shrimp with Lobster Sauce with the same sides. As always the service & food presentation was wonderful. The food was delicious & the soup was sooo good. The fried wonton strips with the sweet sauce helped curb our hunger while waiting for the food. We've eaten at a couple Chinese restaurants up here in the High Desert & we always go back to the Golden Gate. Sorry! We forgot to take pictures.

This is probably as good as it gets here in the High Desert as for the Chinese food category. I have dined here off and on for the past twenty years but lately it has been take out. This time I ordered Chicken Chow Fun, Bokchoy with Black Mushrooms, and the appetizer plate for two. The Chicken Chow Fun was very good. I ordered chicken instead of beef because I wanted to cut down on the amount of red meat I have been eating. This is a good variation from the usual beef protein. There was some wok caramelization flavor but the rice noodles could have used a bit more. The crunchy bean sprouts were a nice contrast along with a few slices of green onion. The noodles and chicken slices were seasoned nicely with a good soy sauce flavor. The Bokchoy and Black Mushrooms was a good vegetable dish. The thickly sliced black mushrooms were tender with a slight chew. The Bokchoy was steamed/stir fried with slices of garlic in a white sauce. The sauce could have been a bit thicker which would have paired better with the steamed white rice. Overall, a tasty and healthy vegetable dish. The appetizer plate for two was a good sampler of their menu starters. It consisted of two portions each of Cho-Cho (beef stick), Paper Chicken, Egg Roll, Fried Shrimp, Cream Cheese Wontons, and BBQ Spareribs. The BBQ Spareribs were good and are the usual pork ribs with the tips. The egg rolls and fried shrimp seem to be the frozen ones from a cold packer and are nothing special. This is the same for the Cream Cheese Wontons, just adequate. The Cho-Cho and Paper Chicken, however, tasted good. The Paper Chicken was exceptionally good as the seasoning used is reminiscent of Paper Beef that was so prevalent in Chinese-American restaurants during the 1950s and 1960s. Paper Beef is definitely not found commonly on menus now. I definitely recommend just getting Paper Chicken by itself as an appetizer to start. I will probably return to dine in person as this restaurant has sizzling rice dishes on the menu. This item is not seen much anymore and should be enjoyed freshly made.
